CHRIS STEIN’S Negative Debuts at Top Spot on Amazon!

23 September 2014

A hearty congratulations for Chris Stein, whose photo book Negative debuted at the top spot in the photo book category on Amazon this week!
blondienegative

In photos and stories direct from Stein, Negative provides a fascinating snapshot of the period before and during Blondie’s huge rise, by someone who was part of and who helped to shape the early punk music scene—at CBGB, Andy Warhol’s Factory, and early Bowery. Stars such as David Bowie, the Ramones, Joan Jett, and Iggy Pop were part of Stein’s world, as were fascinating downtown characters like Jean-Michel Basquiat, Richard Hell, Stephen Sprouse, Anya Phillips, Divine, and many others. As captured by one of its greatest artists and instigators, and designed by Shepard Fairey, this book is a must-have celebration of the new-wave and punk scene, whose influence on music and
fashion is just as relevant today as it was four decades ago.

You can pick up your copy of Negative in the Blondie.net store today.

blondienegative

On the occasion of Blondie’s 40th anniversary, Chris Stein shares his iconic photographs, as well as access to rare unpublished gems which capture a specific place in time (1972-mid 80s) in Negative: Me, Blondie, and the Advent of Punk. The time, place, stars, and planets that aligned to give birth to Blondie and all the cool creatures who populated their world are captured intimately and inimitably in both the photos and words of Chris Stein, the band’s lead guitarist and songwriter since its founding until now. With contributions from Debbie Harry, Gelnn O’Brien and Shepard Fairey, this is a must-own for Blondie fans.

Along with regular pre-orders, The Official Blondie Store is also offering up a limited quantity of signed copies and highly limited selection of personalized copies (sold out!). Supplies are limited for both the signed and personalized copies and when they’re gone, they’re gone.

About the pushchair:
This unique work of pushchair art introduces Andy Warhol’s well-known portrait of the legendary Debbie Harry to the iconic Bugaboo Cameleon³. Contrasting the black chassis, the colourful print on the sun canopy makes for a true eye catcher. Going around town with your kid is going to be very different with this bold and stylish statement.

They start off with the very limited edition of the Andy Warhol + Bugaboo Cameleon³ Blondie pushchair in August, continuing with various retrospective prints in November 2014. The Blondie print was created by the master of pop art as part of his exploration of female cultural icons and Bugaboo and the Andy Warhol Foundation chose this print to honour Blondie’s 40th anniversary. It coincides with the launch of Chris Stein’s book Negative: Me, Blondie, and the Advent of Punk in which he shares rare unpublished gems capturing a specific place in time (1972-mid 80s), the same era of the Andy Warhol’s painting of Debbie Harry.
