Matt Katz-Bohen

Band 0000 Layer 6

Matt Katz-Bohen began playing piano at age 7, moved on to cello, violin and then guitar, attending New York City’s LaGuardia High School (the “Fame” school). As guitarist and Music Director for the NYC drag queen rock ’n roll troupe “The Touchables”, he has worked with Jody Watley, Princess Superstar, Lady Miss Kier, Justin Vivian Bond, Mink Stole and John Cameron Mitchell. He is also Musical Director of New York City’s Bowieball party. Matt was introduced to Debbie Harry at the legendary Squeezebox party, by their mutual friend Miss Guy. Matt then played guitar with Debbie at the Squeezebox movie premiere party, and joined Blondie on keyboards shortly thereafter for the 2008 worldwide concert tour to promote the 30th anniversary re-release of their ground-breaking 1978 album and to celebrate the longevity and success of the album.

Matt has co-written hit songs for Blondie including “What I Heard”, “A Rose by Any Name”, “Take Me In The Night” plus “Already Naked” and “Too Much” on the new “Pollinator” album. He has also written for RuPaul, Raja, and Manila Luzon; has toured and/or played with Boy George, Tony Bennett, Ashford and Simpson, Psychic TV, and Sharon Needles, as well as acting as sub-MD for Hedwig on Broadway and as Associate Conductor during the nationwide tour that followed.

Matt’s current project, Pastel Confession, is Paradise Garage-inflected Italo Disco, in a dirty, unhinged, yet transcendent downtown loft party.
