Our friend, photographer, video artist, director, and performer Rob Roth, has participated in MIX NYC's 2nd Annual Naked Eye Camera Benefit, where creative folk from all walks of art personally fill a unique, unprocessed disposable camera with images from their day-to-day lives. Included in the package is one unprocessed disposable Fuji camera (27 exposures), one photocopy of the participant's signed release form (for legal purposes) and one autographed note written by Rob: "I created a persona out of a hand puppet named 'Monkeysex'. I kept Monkeysex with me throughout the month and took snapshots with the puppet representing me. Snapshots with friends like Debbie Harry and Justin Bond, at events as varied as Badass Burlesque in NYC and the Radical Faerie Gathering in Tennessee with other 'private' moments in between." MIX NYC is a 20-year-old 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose board members board & staff are volunteers. Their signature event, the New York Lesbian & Gay Experimental Film Festival, will take place in November 2007. In 2006 they launched a free summer media-training program for disadvantaged queer youth, and a film preservation program to save essential queer films from being lost to future generations. Throughout the year they host free community screenings in greater New York City. MIX also produces the ACT UP Oral History Project (www.actuporalhistory.org), which is documenting the history of AIDS activism. 100% of the final sale price will support MIX NYC. MAC Cosmetics, announces Debbie Harry, Dita Von Teese, Eve and Lisa Marie Presley as spokespoeple for the MAC Viva Glam VI campaign. "An iconic legend of the downtown New York City music scene, Debbie Harry, and her highly influential band, Blondie, put New Wave Punk on the map. Inducted into the Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame in 2006, the cultural impact of Harry and her band is staggering, from their sound, to their clothes and attitude, to Harry herself, one of the first and the most successful female lead singer to front a band of men. Blondie's hits include Rapture, Heart of Glass, and Call Me, the hit song from the film American Gigolo that has been called the anthem for the 80's. Harry is also a talented actress, starring in such films as Videodrome and John Water's Hairspray. But some of her most important work has been as an activist: Harry was one of the first celebrities to align herself with the fight against HIV/AIDS and her commitment is unwavering. She has worked for such causes as Amfar, LifeBeat, Amnesty International, Keep A Child Alive and more. Blondie continues to tour and record and will spend much of 2006 performing in major cities around the world." To purchase VIVA GLAM, click here.

Move takes a wild spin on the story's themes of war, love, glory and fate, with a radical meld of dance forms, text, glamour, and reality television show antics. The Baryshnikov Dance Foundation is producer. Eight performances, April 27-29 (Thu-Sat) and May 2-6 (Tue-Sat), 8pm.
